FWIW

I intend to go right ahead with Stand Up For Religious Tolerance Day no matter whether the twit goes ahead with the burning or not, because I think, given recent events, that tolerance could use a little standing up for.

I will welcome company (as a matter of fact, if you'll post links to your Tolerance posts in the comments, either here, or at my post that day, I'll be happy to link them) , but obviously it's your choice; if you feel his theoretical backing down reduces the urgency, I will understand.

President Obama gave a news conference today. Someone asked him about the Koran thing, and his response was to the effect of "We will not let religious differences divide our nation. Our enemies are al qaeda and the terrorists...we in America may refer to God by different names, but we are One Nation, indivisible, and it seems to me tomorrow will be a great day to remember that." (not an exact quote, but the best I can remember).

I couldn't help thinking, "Hey, sounds like he read Cat's LJ!" And I was proud of Cat and the President, both.

.we in America may refer to God by different names,

I don't actually refer to God, at least not in the sense he appears to mean, and am kind of sad that he left me and everyone like me out of "we in America."

I believed he thought better of atheists.
