Hmm. Yeah, I see what you mean; ee is the most "closed" of the vowels, throat as well as mouth. That's going to make it harder sing it, drive it towards nasality if one already has that tendency (not that you do).
I could see for particularly problematic passages, compromising a bit and sliding the sound towards "ih" instead of "ee" to open things up a bit.
