No, it has a dedicated hard keyboard. People have referred to it as a "chicklet keyboard"--it's got tiny little keys you press with your thumbs. From the picture I thought my hands might be small enough to touch type on it, but holding it my hands, there's no way.

I hear there's a new e-Ink screen coming out (someone saw the screen at a tech show) that is both much faster and touch-sensitive, and I could imagine a Kindle II that used this screen and handwriting recognition to eliminate the keyboard and use that space for reading. But that screen won't be available till August, and I have no actual information that a Kindle II is in the works.
