Yesterday President Barak Obama signed executive orders 1) closing Guantanimo Bay within a year and 2) ending the use of torture.

Of course, this should be no surprise; President Obama promised to do this throughout his campaign.  It is a sad comment on the conditions the Bush Administration created that seeing a President actually keep his word creates hope and optimism.

However, the title that the Bush Administration gave us as a slur I accept as a proud accolade; I am part of the Reality-Based Community.  Learning from experience is What. We. Do.  We have eight years of experience with the Bush administration and we have learned that it lies.

Now we need to relearn that some administrations don't.

Okay, I am ready for my next lesson.

Hey-- The Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay act passed the Senate!  Now it goes back to the House, where it will almost certainly pass before heading to the Senate!  Cool!

Hmm.

It looks as if Obama's executive order freezing implementation of Bush's last minute directives until they can be reviewed, may have caught the "Conscience" Rule.  So maybe it won't be going into effect.  More as I become aware of it.

For more about the "Conscience" Rule, see here  Well, okay the case can be made that this post is mostly about another post that was supporting the "Conscience" Rule.  See here for a more clear explanation of the "Conscience" Rule itself
