I've been vaguely noticing that there was some sort of right wing outrage over condoms in schools.

Today I came across an article about what is going on.

The short version is that if kids go to the school nurse and ask for information about birth control they can get it.  They can get condoms too. Even if they're in elementary school.  "It allows nurses to give condoms to students they think are sexually active after counseling and education without informing their parents."

So.  I get the furor--I do.  Some people hate and fear sex, and they want people who have sex to suffer--even children, even their own children.  It's not that I don't realize this.  It's that I think it's weird, and sick.

If you care a fig for the welfare of your child, you don't want her getting pregnant, or him causing a pregnancy, when they're school kids.  ESPECIALLY not when they're elementary school kids!   And if you aren't down on your knees begging the school nurse to give them birth control if they're sexually active, there's something seriously wrong with you.

I get wanting your kids to stay ignorant and childlike as long as possible.  I DON'T get placing your sentimental wants ahead of their future.  Unless you just don't care about them at all.
