It turns out that a budget deal was reached at literally the eleventh hour--or the twenty-third hour for those on military time.
The Repubs were indeed threatening to shut down the government over their War On Women but a "compromise" was reached. For anyone who doesn't hate women this is very worrying--I am not sure yet whether this "compromise" includes yet farther erosion of our right to be free of slavery on the part of wishy washy Democrats. When I find out, I will post an additional note. Until then, when you read this piece be aware it was written before I realized the shutdown (in progress as of about 21:30 last night) had been averted

The Republican War On Women shuts down the government.
One of my friends was cleaning out his desk last night. Wondering if he was going to get tagged as "essential personnel"--required to work without being paid but theoretically to be paid for that work in the future,--or "nonessential personnel" --unpaid time off, but hey, at least time off.
The conservative hatred of women has reached such a foaming pitch they have shut down the government over their senseless (well, senseless to anyone who doesn't want to make people who have sex while female suffer for their impurity) vendetta against Planned Parenthood.
Because it's not about reducing the deficit--that will require cutting social security, medicare and defense--*and* laying off the deficit tax cuts--or you won't get *anywhere*--all the rest of the government spending put together couldn't cut the deficit. No, it's not about reducing the deficit--that is just a thin excuse, unconvincing to anyone who knows where government money is going.
It's about hurting women. They are so hell bent on hurting women they are willing to hurt anything else to accomplish that. They are willing to hurt the unemployed. They are willing to hurt seniors. They are willing to hurt their country. They are willing to hurt babies.

They declared war on me. And mine. They want to hurt me. And mine. And I say to hell with them. If they end up sleeping under a bridge and picking their meals out of a dumpster, that is fine with me. If they all had heart attacks tomorrow, the world would be a better, cleaner place.
