Tooth fixed, final gunwale on.
Jun. 21st, 2011 08:32 amI got my tooth fixed yesterday; the dentist's office called me back at 8:00am and asked if I could be there by 9:00 and by 10:30 I was all fixed and done. The new "tooth" is a bit wider than the old one, which feels a little strange, but if it becomes a problem I will go back and have them trim it a bit. Plus, my dental insurance finally is working properly so I only had to pay about 20% of the cost.
I epoxied on the last outwale yesterday and planed the halves of the bookmatched decks but didn't get to epoxying the deck halves together because I needed some clamps to set up the gluing jigs and the clamps were all on the gunwale. I hope to do that today, but I also need to go get some more cherry. The cherry I bought for the gunwales way back when is a beautiful color, and was very cheap, but that was because it was riddled with cracks, and I've pretty much used up most of the good parts. I don't have enough for both thwarts and the seat. I'm not entirely happy about this, mostly because it's almost an hour's drive to the lumberyard. Hopefully the cherry itself won't be too expensive. If it is, I can get just enough for the thwart and make the seat out of leftover ash.
I did *nothing* on the music front yesterday. Having to cancel recording to go deal with my tooth seemed to take all the wind out of my sails. But hopefully today I will download Reaper and try it out.
And in the middle of everything else I need to have the League of Women voters booklet ready for proofreading by 1:00 pm.
So I better get moving.
