Yesterday I finally glued the decks. Today I finished (mostly) levelling the gunwales with a block plane and then sanded the top, inside and outside surfaces. I can't get to the bottom surfaces right now. I also drew deck patterns (two because the boat is asymmetrical) on cardboard, and sanded and planed the deck joins smooth (a little dookie schmutz always squeezes out. I painted the underside of the decks with epoxy so that I won't have to crawl under the overturned boat with a headlamp this time. That meant I couldn't actually cut and fit the decks today, but it will save me time and trouble in the long run.
What I didn't do, was anything on the album. I may actually have to back way off on the album for a while because it's very important to me to get the canoe done in the next month. Once I know the canoe will be done in time, then I'll get back to work on the album. Except that Peter is coming to visit on Monday and Tuesday and offered to help me out with a guy part on Common Ground, so I'm going to record Tuesday, plus I'll use part of tomorrow's recording session to figure out how I'm going to handle recording Peter on Tuesday.
But after *that* I may have to back off for a while because I just can't seem to get much done on the canoe on recording days or on recording on canoe days and I'm worried I'll have two partly finished projects instead of a finished canoe.
I also managed to do my walk today--the first time in a week, I think. My knees are feeling out of shape already but hopefully a few days walking will get them back to normal.
