I had a wonderful OVFF, despite being robbed of most of my voice by a very poorly-timed cold. Mary Bertke courageously took over singing lead on Outward Bound at the Pegasus Concert, (all of which was really rocking, by the way--including the generous souls who took over for Tom Smith's two nominated songs on short notice when Tom couldn't find his keys to drive to the con) and with me chiming in just enough to look like I was involved, and playing the octave mandolin as a countermelody, and the whole audience sang along, which was very encouraging and helpful.
That used up most of my voice for the rest of the con, and I had to sit out the Saturday song contest, in spite of having written a cool song for it. However that made it less of a logistical hassle to host the Shallow End circle for new filkers, which was a lot of fun. I ran two workshops, one for playing countermelody while singing, which worked out very well, and one on writing melody using common "building blocks" when the Muse has stood you up, which went okay considering I could hardly talk at that point, but which has worked better in the past when I had more voice.
My instrument case was the belle of the ball and also worked great for carrying and protecting Pearl, so she (and her case) will be making more appearances in the future.

Being sick and going to workshops meant I missed more of the action than usual, but did get to hear as Copy Red Leader and Debs and Errol gave great concerts, and I got to hear the Iron Filker contest also, whose theme turned out to be apologies. Just a wonderful time all around and I am so glad I went.
