In non-new-song news
Sep. 3rd, 2012 02:47 pm1) It's looking like any possible concert at the Knoxville UU Church would be a long-term thing. The person who was planning to speak to the minister about it hasn't done so and seemed a bit testy when I e-mailed Friday to ask how the proposed meeting Tuesday had gone. I suppose things are just so busy that any pronouncement about intentions must be taken to mean *today's* intentions and no guarantee of what will happen tomorrow. There will be an Open Mic night in the middle of October (conveniently between ConStellation and OVFF) and that will be another chance to insert myself into the memories of other people I suppose.
2) My knee that I thought wasn't improving promptly started improving again when I began doing knee exercises. I am quite happy about this; it's not better, but at least it is better than it was. Today I actually did my usual close-to-the-house walk, without making a detour to go around the steep part so I feel good about that. Next week I will ramp up the knee exercises a bit; I don't want to increase the difficulty too fast.
3) Over the long term I am still noticing improvements from practicing the mandolin more faithfully. It remains to be seen how this will translate into improvements in actual performance or recording but I am hopeful.
4) I seem to be getting quicker at writing a song, working it up to the point where I can make an Alice Day recording, and putting it up on my website. Since writing fast is one of my strengths, this improvement in posting speed lets me play to my strengths in filking somewhat more than I otherwise could. I feel good about this but am still trying to think if there is some better way to get the word out than the LJ/FB/Twitter/G+ combination I am using. On the one hand I don't want to spam anybody, on the other hand I'd like people who would be interested If Only They Knew to be people who know.
