Things you find while cleaning up

catsittingstill So it's almost the end of July and I really haven't posted many songs for the first half and a bit of this year. I had some concerts I frantically prepped for and that was part of it, and I studied Dutch and went to the Netherlands and that was part of it, and I have been practicing and improving my performance of existing songs and that was part of it, but I was kind of wondering what was up in the back of my mind where I try not to obsess over my creative processes because I suspect that doesn't help anything.
Yesterday I ran a D&D game for Kip and my brother (we have discovered that gaming by Skype, while not as good as being there, does actually work.) And in the process of getting ready for that I sorted through quite a bit of stuff looking for my old notes. And I realized that it wasn't a case of my not *writing* songs this past year--it was a case of me not *finishing* them. I haven't been writing at my top pace, granted, but I have like half a dozen just lying around waiting for me to solidfy the lyrics and the tunes and work up some kind of accompaniment.
So I should probably do that in addition to catching up on my practice deficit from the Netherlands visit, and laying down scratch tracks and figuring out what I'm going to do about recording the next CD. And also I should probably keep the documents on my iPad better organized.
