It was a year. The big events were 1) being a Guest of Honour at QuarterTone in England in February (and spending a week in England seeing a tiny portion of the sights) 2) visiting family in Holland in July (and learning some Dutch in the run up to it, and seeing a tiny portion of the sights there) 3) Kip getting a new (to us) car in July, 4) a bang-up OVFF 5) recording, mixing and mastering a new CD "Dr. Faber's Medicine Show."
I wrote a few songs but honestly not as many as usual, in part because of my attention being occupied by this series of big events. This meant that while Alice Day didn't exactly fall by the wayside, it got a lot less frequent.
I also had a few unhappy events--a parting of the ways with someone offended by my feminism, and another parting of the ways with someone who hated atheists. The latter event lead me to write a song that was part of my bang-up OVFF, though. And writing not as many songs but one really good one is maybe not so bad a way to go with the year, actually.
For 2014 I would like to:
1) Have a bang-up time at GaFilk and help as many other people as possible have a wonderful time. Giving a good concert would be part of that.
2) write more songs, perhaps beginning by finishing my half-written songs, and putting the ones I wrote but didn't post up as Alice Day songs.
3) make more progress on my Dutch studies, and keep in touch with family over there.
4) finish another woodworking project--probably the octave mandolin case.
5) keep up with (read: get back into, since it kind of fizzled in December) the daily practicing.
