Sep. 17th, 2007 11:30 amIt is finally getting to where the temperature is pleasant during the day, so tomorrow, after the last of the Planning Task Force meetings, I have promised myself I'll go canoeing. I've only been out a couple of times this summer. I'm hoping to make a whole camping trip in the next couple of weeks, maybe even on Fontana Lake, which borders the Great Smoky Mountains. We'll see about that--it's about a 4 hour drive to get around the mountains to the lake.
I'll have to stay close to shore the whole way if I make the Fontana trip, because the lake is cold, and I don't have anyone to go with me to help me get out of the water if I capsize, so I have to stay where I can swim to shore in a reasonable amount of time. That means a long paddle--across the lake would be nothing, less than a mile, but around the shore will be much longer. So it's probably a good thing if I go out soon to see where my paddling muscles are, since I haven't been using them much this year.
But I really, really want to go canoe camping. Haven't been for nearly two years. Haven't *ever* been with Patience.
