Sooo.

It turns out that Google mail in addition to typed chat, apparently allows video chat. 

Has anyone tried it?  Do you like it?  Do your victims--I mean, the people you call with it--like it?

Inquiring minds want to know.

anaisdjuna and I use Google video chat all the time. What's kind of weird is you have to do it from the browser; it doesn't work in the GoogleTalk client.

Pidgin also supports video chat. Haven't used it yet.

For video chatting, I use skype, along with several other filkers and quite a few of my internet audio acting acquaintances. I've also used one called "oovoo."

I've used it. It works. The main problem is that calls have to be set up by telephone, unless you're both sitting in your offices with a gmail window open. Quality is poor--if you want to look your best you will need some lights, a decent background, and of course dress for it. Also, well, one of my bosses set up a Skype chat from home with me and, Skype, being Skype, automatically turned on his video camera (I suspect that's a default), and I got to see him in a dressing gown. Whoops!
