Err--Amazon would not pass the current holder of the Kindle any details about the original owner. I'm not sure this is unreasonable.

Amazon did tell the current holder if he returned it to them they might be able to send it on to the original owner, but the current holder is apparently hoping for a slightly more sure thing than "might."
