Dec. 21st, 2003 09:48 amWell, working during the week certainly makes my weekends busier! :-) Got a lot done yesterday, though. Hoping to see ROTK today.
In other news, Gannet's journal pointed me at this appalling article http://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/21/national/21OSHA.html. If you don't want to create your own login, mediajunkie/mediajunkie will get you in.
I'm wondering how to go about doing something about this. OSHA was meant to prevent things like this, and apparently it needs some nudging now, but I'm not sure how to apply the pressure. Write my Senator? Write the senator for the appropriate state? Hmm.

Date: 2003-12-21 12:46 pm (UTC)A letter to El Presidente is also, I think, in order, since all the personnel in Justice and Labor are under his authority.
The acts of Moeves are criminal negligence, but it's very seldom that local DAs will prosecute local business people; this is one reason why OSHA exists. But that said, this is what our current governing coalition wants. OSHA's dereliction is the result of "deregulation"--the placement of business-sympathetic personnel in the Labor and Justice departments.
Beyond that, take a look at the book publicity site for A Job To Die For. There's a good links page, and it might be worth getting this book in your local library.
...and you might try writing a song.
