I had a wonderful time.

I wrote 2 songs on the way down, one that I really liked but in retrospect may not have been as good as I thought at the time, one that I thought was ...moderatly north of okay at the time that I now think is really pretty good, not least because it won First Place and People's Choice in one of the OVFF song contests :-).  I will post the second, and possibly the first though perhaps in a modified form, later.

I ended up staying up much later than usual Saturday night and thus getting in on quite a bit more Filk Circle-age than usual for me.  I blame the servers at the Pegasus Awards Banquet, who kept refilling my iced tea.  I have no idea how much iced tea I had, but I didn't even start feeling tired until 1:30 am and didn't make it to bed until about 3:30.  I spent my time in Class 1 and 2 fik circles, because even though most of the really good filkers end up in Class 4s and 5s, I just don't like the big circles as much for some reason.

Another change for me was a relative paucity of new material, so I was much less focussed on how much I got to sing and could pay better attention to other people singing, which was very rewarding.  Bill Roper kindly played 3 of his new songs for me, and Ben Newman played a couple of his new songs for me--well a filk circle had nucleated around us by that time, but I *felt* like it was for me.

Our hall Class 2 circle suffered from evaporation and eventually we had to pick up and descend on another Class 2 circle, which happened to be the pajama party theme filk.  I thought it was going to be difficult to sing at a theme filk, but it actually turned out to be very easy, since we were singing kid's songs.  I sang "greasy grimy gopher guts" at one point, even. :-)  That was a fun theme filk and I am glad I got in on it; thank you, [livejournal.com profile] pocketnaomi

And when it was coming up on 3 am I even sang "Good Night And Joy Be With You All" and it was just as easy and felt just as beautiful, and sounded just as good as when I was young and my voice was strong.  Add in that I looked up somebody I felt I'd wronged and apologized and was forgiven, and I went to bed feeling very good indeed.  If still so buzzed on iced tea that it took me a while to wind down and sleep.

Sunday was mostly hanging around talking to people, collecting hugs and talking.  Peter Alway played me the Helium Composer piece he wrote for me on the hall piano.  It makes me feel peaceful.  Tom Smith showed me how Band in a Box works, and I'm thinking about asking for one for Christmas.  It was quite impressive.

I ended up with piles and piles of swag because I got a couple of free CDs from Weird Sisters and from a Worldcon compilation that included some of my songs, plus I bought a CD of Graham Leathers and a CD of Tim and Annie Walker because I enjoyed their concerts so much, plus a book I'd been looking at for a while and a new CD that Randy Hoffman just brought out.  And then Donald loaned me a whole bag full of books.  It was a good thing I was driving home and not flying :-)

I'm too tired to put in the right usernames and stuff right now; I'll do it tomorrow.  Maybe.  I have a bunch of science editing to get done by Tuesday, so maybe it will be a couple of days.
