Went well!  Hurray!

We had reporters from both local papers (who are generally really good about coming.)  And we had a New Person who read about it in the paper and realized at the last minute that she could come!   We tried to make her feel welcome without overwhelming her--she hadn't had time to make a potluck contribution but we had mountains of food so that absolutely wasn't a problem.  I tried to feed the reporter and photographer from the Jefferson County Post but they had an after-event dinner date with their son, so didn't want to spoil their appetites.  The reporter from the Standard-Banner was happy to join us, though.

And Dr Kara Stooksbury was a delight; she spoke about lobbying and the increasing influence of businesses and corporations in legislative, and more to the point, judicial elections.  She found an interested and receptive audience in the League, since we tend to feel strongly about citizen involvement and governmental transparency anyway.

And after the talk I spoke to her about coming to some of our other meetings; she was particularly interested in the October one, as her class was very riled up about the new voter ID requirements, and that's what our October presentation was going to cover.  So I gave her one of the booklets (a couple of people commented that I had done a nice job on those) and invited her to come and to invite her class.

All in all, I'm very happy.  Most of my steamed carrots got eaten; I am not stuck with three quarters of a pan of brownies, and I didn't forget anything important.  So we're good.
