Small splurge

Our tax return came in. Which kind of surprised me because I wasn't expecting it for a while because the IRS had made a big deal of how it would take longer if you send in paper forms.
Now, no way are we going to spend the whole thing. But I did do one wild and crazy thing.
I have one song that I have arranged voice against ocarina-on-the-iPod. And it has been irritating me that the iPod's wee speakers are so wee I can't sing to them without drowning them out. For my own pleasure I just plug in the earbuds. But I would like to be able to show off the wonderfulness to the world (frankly I feel pretty clever about being able to sing and play the ocarina at the same time.)
And I have a little male-to-male small jack cord that I originally got so I could play stuff straight from my computer's earphone jack to my mp3 recorder's mic input and record PrintMusic's output straight to mp3 for study, because I really learn stuff by ear. And I bought a little small-female-to-large-male adapter for recording the iPod's output to my current mp3 recorder, which can handle large mic jacks but not small ones.
So I plugged the cord into the ipod, the adapter onto the cord, and went down to the local pawnshop. I thought they might have amps and they did. Including one little Ibanez guitar amp (the IBZ10 for those who know about such things) for 50$. I plugged my set up in, and hey--it plays!
And I talked them down to 40$ on the amp. So now I have a way to perform voice-and-ocarina arrangements for others. :-) Listen for it at a filk circle near you!
