I spent the morning and part of the afternoon recording.  On Tom Smith's suggestion (periodically I call him up and ask his advice about recording) I downloaded Reaper, and tried hooking the Zoom up as an audio interface to feed the Rode NT-1A into Reaper.

Wow.  He was totally right--I think this makes enough difference, convenience-wise, that I will just have to figure out how to deal with the fan noise of having the computer in the booth.  It doesn't seem all that noticeable anyway.  Now I will need to put in some time reading the Reaper user manual and figuring out how to use it, but I think it will be well worthwhile.

Regarding Moxie, I got one gunwale planed flat so that the hull edge, the inwale and the outwale are all level with each other (more or less).  As you may be able to tell by the verb, I found that the low-angle block plane worked very well for this.  I seem to recall last time I used the rasp--maybe it just didn't occur to me to try the plane?  Because it works way better.  I also glued the deck halves together--long overdue, but at least it is done.  And tomorrow I will plane the other gunwale and hopefully fit the decks.  Maybe even install them but let's not get hasty.  Also yesterday i went to the lumberyard and bought some more cherry so I now have enough for both thwarts and the seat.  I may go with a store-bought seat (or even just drop a cushion in the bottom of the boat) for the short run, but in the long run I definitely want to make my own.  The store-bought ones are just not as nice.

And I made chicken for dinner, which was nice enough, but which would have been more delightful in its hot-food-ness if the weather were cold, which won't happen again till late October, I would guess.

Are there supper dishes you particularly like when it's hot?
