Dilemma

I wrote a new song yesterday. I'm still working on the tune (um, no I haven't finished the tune for the previous song either), so I won't post it yet.

But I really like it. But, if I want to put it on the album, I'm going to have to turf out another song to make room for it; 20 is kind of a practical limit. (Set partly for my sanity, I admit but sanity matters too.)

And I have no idea at the moment which song I'm going to cut. One of the ones I haven't recorded yet, or one of the ones where the technical problems mean re-recording--if sanity is an issue, then cancelling something I've already got is probably not a good plan.

Stuff I know I don't have good recordings for:

Atheist's Anthem (very proud of this)
Boats Have Bones (I love boats)
Common Ground (I love the book, very proud of the concept, someone is helping me with it)
If The Last Spaceship Leaves On Time (I love the song just wrote vocal harmony)
MayDaye (I love the character, just wrote mandolin countermelody; recording did not go well)
One Salt Sea (love the book!)
Quetico (love the area, very proud of some of the imagery)
Sociopaths (commission for a friend, very proud of how it came out)
True To A Sixteenth (I happen to know some folks really like this)
Wise Hands (collaboration with a friend, very proud of how it came out)

Stuff I have (or might have; mixing not finished):

All YouR Songz R BelonG To US
Art Feeds Life
Hold The Line
It's Okay To Be Takei
Oak And Ash
Providence Skies
Somebody Is Waiting To Eat My Soul
Swanmay
The King's Lute

Aaack. If people have thoughts on this, I would be interested in hearing them.

This is a problem of success, I guess. Writing faster than I can record is not something to complain about, realistically. Except, I like *all* my songs, and telling one "No, you will never be on an album, because I just don't have room, and by the time I can record a second album I will probably have written too many songs for *that* too; sorry" makes me feel bad.
