The prefix "pro-" was nounced dead Tuesday...
Joking aside, the short version is that the Susan G. Komen Foundation took on an anti-choice executive, and has been pressured by anti-choice groups, and has decided to withdraw 600,000 dollars that had been going to provide breast exams and mammograms in poor neighborhoods. This simply makes clear a very basic dilemma; it's really hard to be anti-choice, and still try to improve women's health. Nothing to be done about that, really.
There has been no official word on what the SGKF has decided to do instead, though some people have speculated that they are planning to donate the money to the Republican candidate for president.
The next time I see that pink ribbon, I will be turning my back.
