ConFluence
Jul. 30th, 2012 06:47 pmI had such a good time at ConFluence!
I'm sad to say I missed a lot of the concerts. At a con I have the attention span of a kitten on crystal meth, and while I made it to everything I was supposed to go to (thanks in no small part to Alice noticing I was in the program as a participant in one of the non-filk panels, because I either never got or somehow mislaid--see above under heading "Kitten"--my schedule for the con as a whole as opposed to just the filk portion) I kept either having to do a quick run-through with someone of something we would do together, or just getting distracted by the chance to talk with someone I don't normally see, and missing concerts I would have liked to go to.
I swear if there was sideways time so I could have lived three tracks through these last three days, I'd have gone to everything.
My concert went well. I made mistakes all over the place; my fingers were not cooperating, but everyone seemed to enjoy it, and Peter (who played dulcimer with me on The King's Lute and Quetico) and Judi (who signed my concert--how cool is that?) were amazing. When I mentioned that I wished I had brought my camera to videotape Judi so I could watch her later, a woman (whose name I should know; I've seen her many times... I just can't recall the name right now) actually went back to her room while the concert was on and got her camera and videotaped the last half of the concert for me. If you see this, my benefactor, prod me about your name and I will acknowledge you properly!) And people *bought my CD!* They did! I am now 1/3 of the way to paying my savings account back for the money it shelled out to make the CDs--after one convention. I'm psyched.
I did make it to Seanan's concert, which was good, as I was playing in it. The band was great and I'm pretty sure I didn't ruin anything. Watching Judi sign it was a blast, even if I was watching from behind her left shoulderblade. My workshop the following morning on recording and mixing went... okay. I think I could have done better; if I do it again I will try to prepare some sound files beforehand to show how adding effects works.
We actually stayed over Sunday night, so I could go to the Dead Dog and the Undead Dog (housefilk at Martha Underwood's house.) They were both a lot of fun. Martha and her helper, whose name I have forgotten, made the most amazing Korean food for the Undead Dog; I had at least three helpings of the seaweed salad, because it's hard to find in East Tennesee so I hadn't had it for ages. The music at the Undead Dog was also amazing and there are obviously some CDs I need to get

There is a bonus track of True Dragon Treasure available for people who mention the album and link to my bandcamp site on their social media of choice
It is available on my bandcamp site: catfaber.bandcamp.com (no www). The downloads are 12$ (US) and the physical CD (plus downloads for instant gratification) is 20$ though for shipping to Europe I have to charge a bit more because the mail costs me more. (Bandcamp converts these prices for you so I think you can pay in money appropriate to the country you're in.)
It will be available at CDBaby too, but I haven't gotten to that yet on account of A Con.
