Aug. 15th, 2004 09:44 pmI really need to start writing more; that way I won't have to preface every entry with "Hi--I'm still alive!"
My brother Jake came over for a ten day visit, ending about a week ago now, and since playing D&D is one of our big mutual entertainments, we gamed like mad things, taking turns between Jake's game, Kip (my husband)'s game, and even my game. I discovered that playing the mandolin while gaming is a great way to get practice in--the gaming gets my upper brain out of the way nicely, and as things get more and more exciting in the game (like when we're fighting for our lives) I play faster and faster. I got really good at the two pieces I worked on that week.
I'm back at work again, however, and didn't have much time to practice this week. A pity, as I had to handle a couple of recording projects this weekend, one of which was for the nice folks at the Mars Society who asked me to record one of Leslie Fish's new songs. I did the best I could with it, and wound up sending them three versions (which created problems in itself, mainly having to do with dial-up modems). I just wish I could have done better. But the drawback to recording with an mp3 player is that I can't splice or playthrough or any of that. Hopefully it's good enough.

Date: 2004-08-16 03:25 pm (UTC)I haven't been writing anything new — songwise — for a year or two now; but I've been transcribing some of my old dulcimer tunes to Melody Assistant. It has been an interesting experience.
