Finished the first science editing work
Oct. 9th, 2012 07:32 pm It took me twice as long as I thought. Seven hours. Whuf. At least I didn't try to do it all in one day.
It wouldn't have been so long but in some places the language was so fractured I couldn't figure out what the paper was even trying to say and I had to skim the referenced papers to figure it out. I do not wish to speak ill of its writer--goodness knows I would be completely helpless to write in any language *but* English and I've got to admire a non-native speaker who can take it on. And there have been some interesting developments in the field since last I looked into it. And looking up papers online has gotten *much* better--of eight that I tried for, there were only two hidden behind a paywall.
But wow.
We'll see whether I get a second paper in a couple of weeks or whether the PI puts his foot down and says I'm too expensive.
