I guess it has been a while

I have been kind of busy lately, recovering from OVFF (at which I had a great time) and getting ready for PhilCon (at which I had a great time also.)
I am now home from Philcon and after falling over and getting a good night's sleep I feel pretty good today. I only left one thing behind by mistake and Mark (who kindly gave me house room before and after the con so that I could afford to do this) kindly offered to mail it back to me, for which I am very grateful.
I wrote a song on the way up, which I hope to post soon but today was spent catching up on chores and getting ready for the League of Women Voters meeting this evening. And then when I got to the place the meeting was supposed to happen a half hour early, I discovered that the Community Center had accidentally double-scheduled the meeting room and there was a yoga class that was supposed to use it. First they tried to move us to the bottom of the stairs by the vending machines and I said dubiously that provided they could turn the lights on to make things visible and the vending machines off to reduce the noise it *might* work. Then they tried to put us in part of the gym, but I was chatting to one of our members in there and she couldn't hear me even with me standing right next to her, so I went back and explained that wouldn't work either. Then the yoga teacher offered to teach the yoga class in the gym, so we got the meeting room after all, which worked out fine. But thank goodness I came early.
In the future I may have to lean on these people more emphatically. It is my understanding that the Community Center was partly built using public tax dollars and that part of the agreement was that they would have a room available for public meetings. The manager tried to suggest to me that the yoga class was such a meeting, but the yoga class is not free and thus I don't see how it could possibly be considered a public meeting. I must have misunderstood that part.
