Feb. 27th, 2005 09:08 pmWe're very busy at work. I even worked Saturday (I think this is the first time I've had to do that). It was actually a very productive day because no one interrupted me while I was working. The grant goes out Monday, ready or not.
However, my back has been getting better. Last week I had two days straight when I didn't have to take any painkillers at all! I was psyched. And its routine now for me to not have to take acetaminophen every six hours anymore--more like every eight, or even just a couple of times a day. Since acetaminophen is a liver toxin, I'd really prefer to stay off it as much as possible.
I got invited to give a (short) concert at Galacticon. I've been working on old stuff from Echo's Children since Christmas time, and I think I'll have enough of a repertoire worked up on the mandolin to do a concert with it. Even if my mando teacher isn't big on technique, just the regular practice is doing me lots of good, I can tell. I can almost do "Out of the Music's Way" as fast as I'd like now :-)
In other news, I'd really like to go to FilkOntario. Money's tight, and I hate flying anyway, so I'm thinking about driving. Anybody interested in riding up with me or having me ride up with them? I'd be leaving from the Knoxville TN area.

Date: 2005-03-17 01:14 pm (UTC)Current plan is to leave from our place Thursday evening (as I have a dr's appt that afternoon, and Mary is heading over here after work).
Easiest directions, from K-Ville:
I-81 north to Whytheville, VA
I-77 north to Mineral Wells, WV (exit 170) (this sends you up the WV turnpike, thru Charleston; total tolls = $3.75, in $1.25 increments). That makes it about 5 hours from your area ...
The other alternative is coming north to Cincinnati, then heading east, but it's 3 hours from here to Cinci ...
You can email me via LJ (username@livejournal.com) or call tonight (I'll be home after 8 pm; this weekend I'm going to be in Baltimore for a meeting).
Yay!
