So if you actually read through my previous long post about OVFF you'll know about this.
For those who didn't, let me sum up. I wrote a song, about social justice which is a bigger subject than I usually tackle but which has been on my mind of late. It was about how far we have to go, but also about how far we have come, because it was written for the OVFF song contest, whose theme was "Once Upon A Time."
I wasn't sure if people would like it or not, but everyone sang along and many people said how much it meant to them, and it won first place and audience choice in the song contest.
A lot of people at the con expressed interest in a recording. I don't have time to do the kind of job it deserves and still get it on this album, but I have put up an Alice Day page for it, with lyrics, an mp3 and sheet music.
Climbing The Mountain
I'm not sure if people will like it as much now--it may have been just the combination of the perfect audience and the perfect moment that made it resonate so strongly for people. And if it doesn't seem as good now, that's okay; I have the memory of that moment. But if you'd like to hear it / read it / learn it, here it is.
