So I did record in the wee hours of the morning after my last post, and it went very well. The extra practice time did me good, and while the vocals weren't perfect (they are never perfect) they were quite adequate and a lot better than some sets I have made work, so no complaints.

And the octave mando bass line for Alice Day went pretty well too, in spite of being all of three days old, so yay.

And I have mixed Oblivion Bridge and Song of The Makers (though the latter ran well over ten hours to mix--by which I mean adding the harmony vocals to the already mixed main vocals and octave mandolin.) Now that I have done so much mixing I will say that when mixing an added part the order should be 1) patch the good bits together so there are no mistakes 2) scootch everything to match the existing parts rhythmically, 3) adjust volumes 4) *then* fix pitches. Note to self for future reference.

And today I mixed the octave mandolin bass line for Alice Day which took all of two hours or so. I keep thinking I must have overlooked something. So I patched together (and scootched) the octave mandolin line for Normal to get a leg up on tomorrow's work. If all goes well I can mix the two songs I thought I was going to have to leave off the CD in the next four days, and be ready to plunge into two weeks of mastering. Once I know for sure I won't need the blanket fort again I can dismantle it, which will be good because my monitor speakers are trapped behind the blankets over the window, and I will need them soon.

My artist and I are passing sketches and comments back and forth at a great rate, so that is progressing too, and soon, soon, I must get in touch with my layout person.

After I have done my wishlist for Christmas and written my niece. But soon.
