FAWM stands for February Album Writing Month. This year I am a "fawmling," meaning I am trying it for the first time. I now have two songs up at http://fawm.org/ as "calicocat." Or if you prefer, Dragon Games and Fourteen Songs In Twenty-Eight Days are also available at my usual hwaet.org website.
My plan is to put all my FAWM songs up both places. But the pdf sheet music may lag a bit behind as this will be rather a fast pace of songwriting. We will see.
Also I have finished the pdf songbook of sheet music for Dr. Faber's Medicine Show except that I can't figure out how to put the page numbers on the blessed thing. I can't do it in Preview, Finale PrintMusic starts every song with page 1, and I had a copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro but it's ten years old now and won't run on this system. Kip thinks someone at Carson Newman may be able to help me.

Date: 2014-02-03 07:43 pm (UTC)Unfortunately Adobe Acrobat costs $450. An educators discount is likely to be 10% off--perhaps even 20%. But that's still a lot of money to put page numbers on a pdf.
I can rent Adobe Acrobat for $50 a month. But if you think about it, that is also a lot of money to pay to put page numbers on a pdf.
I could also solve the problem by going into each and every Finale PrintMusic file and using the text tool to add the correct page numbers for the piece in approximately the correct place. It would take a couple of hours, I suspect. Then I print everything to pdf again and hook it all together in Preview again. It can be done. It's just such an enormous PITA I haven't gotten to it.
But I really need to bite the bullet and handle it soon; it is not fair to have it hanging fire on this one little thing when it's part of the whole album project and people deserve to be able to get their hands on it if they want it.

Date: 2014-02-03 08:11 pm (UTC)If I made a lot of multipage pdfs that needed page numbers it would be a different story, of course, but I make two songbooks a year, max. And one of them is lyrics and chords formatted in Open Office, which can put the page numbers on for me before I print to pdf, so I really only need page numbers on one pdf document a year.
If that changes I will bear the educational optioin in mind. I really hadn't realized that the discount would be so big, and that is useful to know.
