I had a lovely time at GaFilk, and wrote a new song, which I guess I ought to put up here in a bit, and also debuted the song I wrote for the OVFF song contest but lost my voice before I could sing, so I guess that's actually two songs I should put up.

I am gradually getting better, but my foot has been hurting on my walks. This is odd because I am lighter than I used to be; logically my foot should hurt less, not more. Perhaps basically lying down for most of December let my foot muscles get out of condition, so I am trying to get my exercise at the gym on the recumbent bike some days so as to not aggravate the foot, while I do some light weightlifting to get my strength back, including some balancing exercises that make the foot muscles work pretty hard. If it is not better in a few weeks I will talk to the doctor about it.

I have been feeling more energetic, which is nice.

I have been reading the Dutch book with my dad--at first I could only translate two pages at a time, then two and a half, but the last couple of times I have translated three and a half, and haven't had too much trouble. I still have to look up lots of words, though.

If it gets worse, talk to the doctor sooner rather than later. If the pain is mostly in the heel, it may be plantar fasciitis, which is easy to treat if you know how.

Taking a cue from you and a friend in Finland (who is doing the same basic thing for books in Swedish), I've started reading books in Spanish to help improve my competence/fluency.
