Worked on the canoe-lifter today. Think I can maybe finish it tomorrow. I put the wheels on it so I can roll it around the shop. It is so *nice* to be able to just shove it out of the way! Before I made the lever arms (the part that will make the height adjustable) I put the strongback/mold/canoe on the frame to make sure it wouldn't collapse and that the wheels would still work properly under that (substantial) weight. It will be really neat to be able to move the canoe easily. Plus I think I can fit the cedar strips through the frame of the canoe-lifter, which would get them off the worktable (so I could work on it, what a concept) and quit blocking the workbench by that wall. But the strips are 16 feet and the canoe is only 15 (and the canoe-lifter only 8) so maybe I will find myself tripping over them. We'll see.

Yes, I'm shocked!, shocked! to hear from you twice in two days, Cat!

Good progress on the canoe project, I see.

There are few things as satisfying as making a custom tool for a project. Yum.

Well, you've got things happenning that you care about, so you have things to write about. Sorry to hear 'bout the job, but the canoe sounds great. Me, struggling frantically to keep up with work & life.
