Well, I finally finished the taxes and sent them off.

Still plugging away at that Micro book, but it's heavy going.

I have sent the CD to most of the people I promised it to; I may not get the next shipment off until Monday.

Kip and I will be going to Ireland (sheparding a bunch of college students) from the middle of May until the beginning of June. I have ordered a special safari vest for the trip, with plenty of pockets to hold all my stuff. The mimmoth is very excited about it, and wants to try all the pockets so he can pick the best one. I explained that the interior pockets were reserved for my passport and wallet, so nobody can steal them. He stated emphatically that money was only money, but if *he* was stolen, that would be a real tragedy. I'm trying to persuade him that he could bite the thief, who would probably leave him alone, and possibly perish on the spot from horror and disgust, but it's heavy going.

Oh, and I have a list of song titles for the CD. Eventually I mean to put a pdf of all the song lyrics and sheet music up, but that will take a while, so here's a songlist for those who want one.

The Mimmoth's Song, (or "A Proud History of a Short People")
Solemn as Life or As Death
Dulcimer's Dance
Remembering Dave
Captain James' Song
Underground Rail
Lien's Song
Ista's Answer
Patience Isn't Tame
Brazen Hussy
Signing Lullabye
Ghost Ship of Diamond Shoals
Hymn To Athena
Landless Lady
Moontage
The Second Voice
Chocolate
Mix That Puppy Down
Mostly Good Magics

I forget if I asked - where all in Ireland will you be going?

And can you get me some Quinnsworth chocolate-coated digestive biscuits? Since they're the store brand for a local grocery store, import stores don't think people will want them...

All over. Um, mostly the southern and western part, if I remember right. I can look up a specific itinerary if you're interested, but it may take me a day or two.

Re the Quinnsworth chocolate-coated digestive biscuits--I can certainly try. Can I keep the mimmoth out of them long enough to get them back to you--that's a more difficult question. Do they keep well?

Relatively well, or should. The biggest issue would be crumbling, if they're in soft-shelled luggage.

Are you okay with them if they're broken, or are broken biscuits mimmoth food?

I think I can deal with slightly-battered cookies.

(blush) soon, I promise. You *are* on the list, you just happened not to be in the first two batches. Third batch coming.

Cool. We're getting together a package for Ziggurat Con and I figured we could slip a few of your cds in with the Game books.

I just googled Ziggurat Con, and it's in Iraq! Good grief! Okay, now I see why you want to send them stuff. I may record a special greeting for that particular CD. It's being held June 9th, so probably shipments ought to go out by May 9th to be sure they get there in time, right? I'll get you the CD this next week.

"Underground Rail" has spawned the first prose fiction I have been able to write in almost ten years. Thank you.

... and now I've listened to it, or at least the parts the kids weren't chattering over. Nice. I'm especially happy to have "Mostly Good Magics", and there are several that are going to want concentrated listening later.

I'm glad you like it. "Mostly Good Magics" was influenced by "Uncle Ernie's Used Computers," as I may have mentioned to you before :-).

I think you mentioned that, but I have a memory like a steel sieve these days.

Whoops, should have let you know I received mine last week on the 13th as well.

I've ripped them to 192bps mp3s and posted them to my web site:

I made a seprate comment with the URL, then deleted it.

You should have received a email of the comment.

Here it is again. You can delete this comment if you don't want anyone grabbing them this way.

Thanks! I must have deleted the e-mail with the URL before. I'm going to go ahead and leave this URL up here, if that's okay with you--I don't mind if people download the mp3s rather than copy a CD; I just want to make it as available as possible.

I appreciate your help with distribution!

You're going to Ireland? Great! And I'll be looking for your CD (I didn't offer to make copies because I simply don't see enough people these days, sigh.)

I'm a bit nervous about the Ireland trip, but hopefully it will be fun. Regarding the CD, I have no record of having given one out in the Portland area. Several went to California and one to Washington state, though.

Why nervous? Ireland is not exactly a hotbed of anti-American sentiment.

Portland fandom is awfully fragmented and ingrown these days, which is part of why I don't see many people. If there's any organized filking around here, I don't know about it. OSCFI is having problems and PorSFiS is just hanging on--about the only groups that are doing well are the SCA and the writers groups, and I scarcely know either. Oh, well. I'll probably get up to Seattle fairly often--still waiting on UW, though. If you're willing, I'll distribute CDs in Portland.

Err... I meant I am nervous about things like: not being able to sleep on the plane, or losing my money or my passport, or running out of money, or losing track of one or more of the students, or one or more of the students getting hurt in an accident, or being trapped in a youth hostel with fifty snoring people, or having to wait a long time in a restaurant to get my food when I'm already hungry and don't have any food of my own.

Re the CD, send me your snail mail addy and I'll put you on the list.

I hope none of those things happen and, truthfully, I can think of ways to deal with them--well, except for the snoring people, gulp!

Paper mail addr. on the way.
