I have obtained (by my rights as a Faculty Spouse) a username and password on the Carson-Newman network. I have discovered that CN has wireless access in their library. I have even obtained some sort of password thingie (no idea what, or how it works, but I had to have a particular CD from the IT department in my CD drive the first time I logged in) for the wireless network. I am now surfing wirelessly. It is much faster than my dialup connection at home. I'm psyched.

I may be spending a lot of time in the library from now on. Fortunately the librarians are friendly, welcoming people.

Fetch is a Mac app, right? and you would be using, what, Mail.app for email?

Um. I'm using an app called Mail that came with the Mac. However I get my e-mail at my ISP, toast.net. Perhaps the CN network is having trouble hooking up with toast? Though when I'm hooked up by ethernet, I don't recall a problem.

On the other hand, I had a problem about 10 days ago in which I couldn't get e-mail *or* websites from home; I logged into toast from CN via ethernet connection to read the help files, and figured out how to get e-mail at home working again, but that time I couldn't access e-mail from CN via ethernet either.

Maybe I just can't get my mail at CN. Or maybe I need to poke at it some more, but I have to admit I'm pretty baffled at the moment.

Oh, and yeah, Fetch is a Mac app also. Standard ftp program for Macs for lo these many years.
