You know, I wrote a song yesterday, mostly anyway, and inspired by [profile] orawnzva's example, I'm going to put it up here.  The chorus melody is mostly done; I'm still working out the verse melody.

Make Like A Mimmoth
lyrics and melody by Catherine Faber

Out of my window I watch as they run
The mimmoths are frolicking there in the sun;
Racing in circles and tussling on,
They trample the flowers, they tear up the lawn.
If anyone's asking, I'm frolicking free,
Nary a mimmoth as merry as me.
I'm hearty, I'm happy, I'm doing my thing,
To make like a mimmoth and frolic in spring.
The mimmoths are gathered in thundering herds
They trumpet, stampeding; they frighten the birds,
They ponder, they plunder, they pester and test
Driving the chickadees out of their nest.

They play in the rain and get soaked to the skin
Bouncing in puddles, until they come in;
They shake to get dry, and then joyfully spray
The trunkfull of water they brought in for play.

(Mimmoths are miniature mammoths that show up in the marvelous comic Girl Genius as a sort of vermin. (Top right corner of that page.  Look hard.  I have no idea how they get on top of things like that.)  I have somehow acquired a growing collection of mimmoths of various sorts.  Occasionally the little vermin get into my songs.)

Oh, wow, thanks -- I used to go mimmoth hunting when the comic was in print, but I haven't been spending the attention on it with fewer hidden mimmoths and clanks in the more recent strips; I'd missed that one.

Oh, the lyrics are nice too!

There are more mimmoths a page or two back from that spot, too. On the top shelves as the two women are walking by.

Immediately put me in mind of reading A.A. Milne whilst very young. Delightful!
