Dennis Kucinich has the goods on George W. Bush. 35 articles of impeachment. Pass it on.

I want to see what comes of this.  I'd like to see *something* come of this.  The mainstream media apparently haven't said a word, but the article I linked to has the full scoop from the Congressional Record.

Do we allow Bush to pardon all the criminals in his administration? Because he's going to, you know. He may even start a war with Iran before he leaves office. These are compelling reasons to try. It would also go some distance towards repairing our damaged international reputation and reasserting Congressional authority. And people hate Bush--he probably has the lowest approval ratings in history. I don't think there would be any backlash.

It would also establish that what he did was wrong, and that there are limits to the US president's powers.

Politicians don't willingly give up power. If Bush successfully establishes that the president's power is above and beyond the law then whoever wins your election it's not going to get changed back.

Bush will pardon the criminals the day it looks like he'll really be impeached, or the day he leaves office, which ever comes first, no matter what we do.

Only about half the country hates Bush. Of the rest, a fair number have recently come around to being displeased with the job he's done, but there's still quite a lot that think he's wonderful. That fair number may be willing to vote against the Republicans, but they won't tolerate impeachment.

If Bush pardons the criminals before he is impeached it will at least make his conviction the more likely. Bush's approval ratings have been low for quite some time; if your source for information about reactions to impeachment is the same as the source for your numbers, it might not be reliable. The facts spelled out in a hearing or trial will change some minds; it is surprising how many people give credence to officials and the major media as sources, when they will not give their own neighbors the time of day.
