My local (ish) Mac store will fix it, but will take 5 days.

A local computer repair store can fix it more quickly, but wants more than twice as much money.

I need my computer up to the 11th or so, because there's a Growth Readiness Workshop meeting then that I have to present something at.

I will try to nurse it through until then, and then have the Mac store fix it, I guess.  Hopefully it will last that long.

Just a suggestion, but if you're relying on your computer (laptop?) for that meeting, be sure you have a portable copy of your presentation in a platform-neutral format (save it as a PDF and stick it on a thumb drive, or something else similar) in case your machine chooses the moment of the preso to finally go belly-up.

Good luck keeping it alive for another week or so!

Since it's a screen problem, your presentation will almost certainly work fine if they have a projector at the workshop. Don't forget your DVI-to-VGA adapter.

Sympathies.
