Apparently there was an anti-Palin rally in Anchorage. Apparently it was better attended than the pro-Palin rally that was getting all the news coverage. Interesting.

I don't get why, but I *cannot* imbed the link, either in the Rich Text tab or in the HTML tab. I will try to add it here, naked, so to speak: http://mudflats.wordpress.com/2008/09/14/alaska-women-reject-palin-rally-is-huge/

That's hopeful--Palin has also alienated a lot of people. She's underscored the importance of women in national elections, as well--this is probably going to be the last national election where the women's vote is ignored. Still, the polling is worrisome. BTW, the neutral national media (that is, not Fox) often only carries a story if one of the candidates (or a 527) highlights it, if it's part of a larger narrative, or if it's attention-getting, and negatives are generally more attention-getting than positives. Huge anti-war rallies, the huge anti-Bush rally in 2000--these got scarcely any coverage. Sometimes I think we need to march on the television stations!

BTW, I think atheism, or at least separation of church and state, is going to become much more popular soon.
