Very Musical Day
Oct. 7th, 2003 11:49 amGood lesson yesterday. Didn't play as well as I'd hoped, but Roy seemed pleased enough. He played backup guitar for me while I played St Anne's Reel, which was lots of fun. He encouraged me to push the tempo as much as I was comfortable with and a little beyond and pointed out that even at the higher speeds I was still hitting all the notes about half the time. We started on another piece--Fisherman's Hornpipe. I was really struggling on the second page and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. It wasn't till I got home that I realized I didn't have the *right* second page. I had the second page of Whiskey Before Breakfast. No wonder I couldn't get my head around the junction. I had to go back to get a photocopy of the right second page.
There was another Firehouse Jam last night--it was more bluegrass oriented than usual and I had a great deal of fun. I think I'm getting better at this. :-)
