We've been shopping for Christmas presents the past few days. We figured if we shopped early we could get the easy stuff on everyone's wishlists and not have to go hunting for things that even Knoxville isn't bige enough to have :-). Bookstores are our favorites; we got a lot of stuff at Barnes and Noble. We were very good and didn't get anything for ourselves. Amazon is also very useful--I put in a big order over there, and was particularly charmed to discover they're also a sort of clearinghouse for used books. I haven't found a local used book store yet.

What kinds of places do you like to shop for Christmas presents? Or other presents?

Have you discovered "abebooks.com"? It's awesome! It's sort of the Amazon.com of used books. It's a central listing of used bookstores all over the world and we've used it many times to get out of print books. You'll generally pull up several listings (or several pages of listings!) and then can sort them by price, condition, edition etc.
