Ha! Audacity success!

Audacity 1.3.x works.  It even *comes* with GVerb.  Plus a whole bunch of things labeled "Apple" this and that, one of which calls itself "Matrix Reverb" whatever that means.

But what it does mean is that I have a version of Audacity that actually works, meaning it actually has that just about first and most important effect: reverb.

So this is me dancing and punching the air above me and saying "Ha! Yes!"

The other effects I find myself using all the time are "amplify" (mostly on live tracks to bring applause down to the same level as the song) and "normalize" (to bring the level up after a track has been recorded)

"amplify" huh? I will have to try that. Your comment on the corresponding LJ entry gives me some ideas--if I can figure out how to file down just the peaks, that would be very useful for con recordings.

For recording I normally use(d) (I haven't done this in a while) EQ and Reverb. Plus volume and pan, of course, and sometimes cut and paste.
