Little Joys
Aug. 23rd, 2007 12:24 pmI have obtained (by my rights as a Faculty Spouse) a username and password on the Carson-Newman network. I have discovered that CN has wireless access in their library. I have even obtained some sort of password thingie (no idea what, or how it works, but I had to have a particular CD from the IT department in my CD drive the first time I logged in) for the wireless network. I am now surfing wirelessly. It is much faster than my dialup connection at home. I'm psyched.
I may be spending a lot of time in the library from now on. Fortunately the librarians are friendly, welcoming people.

They generally are, unlike their policy-crat bosses. Happiness is a good library.

Date: 2007-08-23 07:24 pm (UTC)The downside is that I seem to have trouble getting my e-mail there, or using Fetch. I'm hoping to figure out the Fetch issue since I'd like to use the high speed connection for uploading (and maybe even downloading) mp3s.

Date: 2007-08-23 11:03 pm (UTC)On the other hand, I had a problem about 10 days ago in which I couldn't get e-mail *or* websites from home; I logged into toast from CN via ethernet connection to read the help files, and figured out how to get e-mail at home working again, but that time I couldn't access e-mail from CN via ethernet either.
Maybe I just can't get my mail at CN. Or maybe I need to poke at it some more, but I have to admit I'm pretty baffled at the moment.
